There’s great news for anyone who’s intending to re-train in the New Year. With reduced charges implemented to obtain your SIA License there’s never been a better time to include a new career in your plans for 2012.

There’s great news for anyone who’s intending to re-train in the New Year. With reduced charges implemented to obtain your SIA License there’s never been a better time to include a new career in your plans for 2012. The SIA Chairman Ruth Henig highlighted the plans in a recent statement; “We are very aware of the challenges faced by both businesses and licensed individuals in this difficult climate. We have held current fee levels for four years, and I am very pleased to now announce these reductions in the licence fees. We are committed to driving down costs in the new regime and this is the first step in that process.”

To compliment this statement by the SIA Chairman Home Office minister Lynne Featherstone said; “The Government has set a clear challenge to all its agencies and other bodies to ensure they are proving the best possible value for money. So I have been very impressed to hear how the SIA has been working to improve its practices and processes to ensure that they are as efficient as possible. The reduction in these fees will no doubt be welcomed by the 360 thousand people who hold a valid licence and the businesses that employ them.”

All new candidates will be able to take advantage of this reduction whether you have trained as a Door Supervisor, Security Guard or as CCTV Operative from the 1st January 2012. In order to benefit from this reduction if you have already submitted your application you can withdraw it now and re-apply in the New Year, but remember you cannot work in the Security Industry until you have your valid license. If you are renewing your license and are currently employed do not delay your renewal application, the current fee applicable is far cheaper than a £5,000 fine so, if you are working, be sure you are covered by a valid license.

2011 has seen some extraordinary changes in Security Training not least of all that earlier in the year the SIA, and its affiliated training providers were so highly praised by the Government that a decision was made that the functions of the SIA need no longer be performed by the Government and the responsibility of improved regulation should be handled independently by the Security Industry its self.

Although the Government will still play an active role in consultation, this decision is further proof of just how far the industry has progressed.

Anyone who trained this year with Get Licensed will be fully aware of the high standards that need to be met throughout the industry and the exceptional career opportunities there are for the future once you have your SIA License.
