Do you have an old automobile in your driveway? Have you purchased a cheap car in anticipation of your child’s good behavior that you feel as though you need to get rid of? Do you have an automobile that you simply do not want? If so, don’t worry, you are not alone. Believe it or not, a great a great deal of people find that they have an automobile that they no longer want. However, feeling as though they wont get what the automobile is worth, many Americans don’t attempt to sell it. These people would much rather give their cars to charity than to sell their automobile for a loss. This leads people to a great question. Which charities accept vehicle donations?

The answer to that question may be a bit confusing. Although, not all charities directly accept car donations, all charities will accept the money that a car donation is sold for. When it comes down to it, accepting vehicle donations can be very expensive and not worth the hassle if there are not a lot of vehicle donations coming in. This is because accepting automobile donations is a lot of work.

Most car donations are junk cars. Although, there is nothing wrong with a junk automobile donation, generating cash with a junk vehicle takes a great deal of work. First, the junk automobile donation must undergo an analysis. This analysis is designed to find out which parts in a junk car are working and which parts are not. It also gives the vehicle donation company an idea of how much the junk automobile donation would sell for if it was fixed up. At this point, the vehicle donation company will decide if it will be worth it to fix the junk automobile or scrap it.

Once the analysis is complete, car donations that are worth being fixed will be fixed. The car donations that are deemed to be junk cars that are not worth being fixed will go through a different process. These cars will have all working parts removed. Once this is done, the frame, shell and non working parts found within the automobile will be sold to a scrap metal yard. Both of these processes take time and tools that not all charities will have.

This brings us back to our first question, what charities accept junk cars? As I stated before, not all charities directly accept automobile donations however, they all do accept the proceeds. To find out if the charity that consumers are interested in accepts automobile donations is a simple process. Simply do a search on Google for the charities website. If the charity accepts automobile donations directly, there should be a link on their site that will allow Americans to donate an automobile.

So, what if the charities that consumers are interested in doesn’t accept vehicle donations directly? Where do consumers donate their cars to ensure that these charities get the proceeds? Well, there are charities out there that specialize in processing vehicle donations for the charities that can’t afford to do so or simply don’t have the time or man power to do so. For consumers that would like to donate a car to a charity that doesn’t directly accept car donations, I would suggest donating to Cars Helping Charities. On the Cars Helping Charities website, consumers have the ability to choose a charity that they would like the proceeds from their cars to go to!
