]]> Given the significant number of falls that are occurring among older adults today and into the foreseeable future, the State of Hawaii under the leadership of the Hawaii State Executive Office on Aging established a Fall Prevention Task Force. The Task Force will develop a statewide approach to reducing falls among older adults utilizing the following methods: (1) Raising awareness about falls prevention, (2) Increasing availability, accessibility, and awareness of fall prevention interventions and (3) Engaging and collaborating with professionals and community members. It will be actively engaged in its work from November 2011 to December 2012 and will prepare recommendations for the State Legislature by the 2013 Legislature.
Among those appointed to be a member of this Statewide Task Force is Cullen Hayashida, President of <a href =\”https://www.kupunamonitoring.com/\”>Kupuna Monitoring Systems</a>, Inc. and Director of the Kapiolani Community College’s Kupuna Education Center. Hayashida has over 3 decades of knowledge of aging in Hawaii, the needs of paraprofessional workers, the need for family caregiver training and the need for technologies such as <a href =\”https://www.kupunamonitoring.com/\”>medical alert services</a> to assure immediate access to help after a fall.
