There is no greater way to get employees to have a good attitude then to provide employee recognition awards on a regular basis. Awards can go a very long way with people who work hard. Employee recognition awards can range anywhere from Employee of the Month, Most Improved, Thanks for Taking Initiative, or Great Attitude. These are only a few ideas for keeping employees motivated to coming to the office day in and day out.
It is no great mystery that awards make a person feel extremely good about themselves and their work performance. Actors, actresses, directors, musicians, have made receiving awards for outstanding performances a part of our culture. They have the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Oscars, Academy Awards, and the Grammy Awards, just to name a few. Everyone should have the chance at be nominated or recognized for their work. Humans thrive on the hope of recognition to give credence to why they are here.
Creating a program in a work or office environment where employee recognition awards are given on a regular basis will keep employees happy, positive, and motivated to do a job well done. People will not work to their fullest potential if what they are doing never receives any positive reinforcement and encouraging incentives to keep working.
In the movie, “What Women Want” a man is given the awesome ability to hear women’s innermost thoughts. There is one girl in particular in this film that warrants mentioning. She was a file clerk and she on a regular basis feels invisible to all the people she works with. No body acknowledges her or her the work she is doing for them. The man who can hear her thoughts becomes aware of how discouraged this girl is and takes only a moment to help her with picking up some files. This act alone starts to change this young girl’s attitude about her surroundings.
Leaders in the work place have a responsibility to get the best work performance out of its employees. One of the ways to do this is to set up quarterly employee recognition award to let your employees know that they are appreciated. Yes, everyone that works should be doing their job regardless, however a little nicety can go a long way and will increase productivity and performance.
In some businesses it isn’t just getting the job done that will increase your profits, most times it is going above and beyond by the employees in the front line that will get noticed by your customers!
